Antarctica presents extreme conditions—temperatures plummet well below freezing, and winds can reach speeds exceeding 100 mph. Structures must endure these elements while providing reliable shelter for crews undertaking the two-month, 1,000-mile SPoT journey across the ice. The NSF and the United States Antarctic Program (USAP) needed modular units that were:
