Why cedar roofs wear out on the coast
Cedar holds water. Through a wet winter it softens, grows moss in the grain, splits and cups, and it needs cleaning and re-treating to last. Aluminum absorbs nothing and cannot rot, so the roof doesn't spend the winter getting heavier and softer.
Keep the look: Shake and Cedar Shingle profiles
Interlock's Shake profile has deep, hand-split shadow lines; the Cedar Shingle profile has the flatter look of a sawn cedar roof. Both are aluminum, lock on all four sides with the fasteners concealed, and weigh roughly 2 to 3.5 kg per square metre depending on profile.

Fire and cedar
Class A is available on our roofs as a complete assembly: two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood, per ASTM E108. The rating belongs to the assembly, not to the panel alone, and aluminum itself does not ignite.

Is aluminum a good replacement for cedar shakes?
It is the most common reason people call us. The Shake and Cedar Shingle profiles keep the look without the rot, splitting and re-treatment, and they are much lighter than concrete tile.
Will it look like real cedar?
From the street it reads as a shake or shingle roof. We bring samples and colours to the visit so you can judge it on your house.
