The panels on every Sea-to-Sky roof we install are made in Canada by Interlock Roofing Ltd. in Delta, BC. Interlock Metal Roofing (BC) Ltd. is a Canadian owned and operated British Columbia company, founded in 1983.
Two climates on one highway
Squamish gets long, heavy rain seasons off Howe Sound; Whistler and the upper corridor get real snow. A roof in Brackendale has a different job from a roof at Alta Lake, and the estimate should say so: drainage and valley detailing in the wet, snow load and snow guards up high.
Wind down the sound
Outflow winds funnel down the Howe Sound corridor in cold snaps, and storm systems push up it the rest of the winter. Interlock panels lock to each other on all four sides with the fasteners concealed, with nothing exposed for the wind to lift. Wind resistance is warranted to 193 km/h (120 mph) installed to manufacturer specification.
Snow that should slide where you want it
A metal roof sheds snow; that is part of what it is for. Where it lands is a design decision: over entries, decks, walkways and the driveway, snow guards go in at the estimate, not after the first slide. Aluminum is light on the framing, roughly 2 to 3.5 kg per square metre depending on profile, which leaves the structure's capacity for the snow itself.
Homes backing onto forest
Much of the corridor sits in the wildland-urban interface. Class A is available on our roofs as a complete assembly (two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood, per ASTM E108), and aluminum does not ignite. Embers get into gutters, vents and gaps at the roof edge, so we look at the edges with you, not just the panels.

Do you install in Whistler and Squamish?
Yes. Sea-to-Sky is served directly from our Delta office: Squamish, Brackendale, Garibaldi Highlands, Britannia Beach, Whistler and the communities in between.
Can you install a metal roof in winter up here?
Sometimes, depending on the elevation and the week. Snow on the deck and frozen underlayment are not conditions we install in. At the estimate we'll give you a realistic window for your address rather than the earliest date you want to hear.
Will snow slide off an Interlock roof?
Yes, it is designed to shed. That is why snow guards over doors, decks, walkways and parking are planned at the estimate. Tell us how you use the ground around the house and we'll place them accordingly.
Is an aluminum roof a good replacement for cedar shakes?
It is the most common reason people call us in the corridor. Interlock's shake and cedar shingle profiles keep the look without the rot, splitting and re-treatment, and they are much lighter than concrete tile.
